Biography
Dr. Young K. Kim, a board-certified prosthodontist with surgical expertise (passed both the restorative & new surgical board exam sections of the American Board of Prosthodontics), is one of the few specialists with dual-doctorate degrees: 4 years in Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Boston Univ. School of Dental Medicine (Dean's llist; ranking first in his final year with a 3.99 GPA) and another 4-yrs in Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) from Harvard School of Dental Medicine (president's scholar).
At Harvard, he earned a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics after intensive surgical and restorative training, focusing primarily on complex cases of tooth-supported & implant-supported full-mouth rehabilitation.

In addition to reconstructive dentistry, Dr. Kim has in-depth knowledge of bone biology, periosteal wound healing, and tissue augmentation/engineering in implant dentistry. His doctorate research thesis at Harvard was "injectable bioactive gelatin-hyaluronan-calcium phosphate (GH-CP) and its osteogenic potential for flapless guided bone regeneration (GBR)," under the guidance of Dr. Myron Spector (Professor of Orthopedic Surgery - Biomaterial, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School). Dr. Kim's novel innovative tissue-engineering research was awarded as 1st place winner at the regional American College of Prosthodontists annual session '19.
Dr. Kim is currently a clinical assistant professor at New York University College of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Kim also practices in various selected premium private places, improving his patients' quality of life by restoring esthetics, occlusion, and function.
His clinical/research interests include Reconstructive Prosthodontics (tooth/implant-supported full-mouth rehabilitation via conventional/digital workflows), Surgical Prosthodontics (full-mouth guided / robot-assisted surgery, pre-prosthetic surgery, and tissue augmentation), and computatinoal intelligence (AI/ML/DL) in implant dentistry.
He currently serves as Executive Guest Editor of the Journal of Functional Biomaterials and previously served as Executive Guest Editor of Dentistry Review (Elsevier). He also serves as a peer reviewer for several scientific journals, including Scientific Reports, Clinical Oral Investigations, BMC Oral Health, BMC Biotechnology, Microstructures, and the Journal of Bio- and Tribo-Corrosion. He is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American College of Dentists, a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and the Academy of Osseointegration, and an Associate Member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
